Vincent, my local ATT sales rep and friend dropSkip’d his iPhone4 for the last time today. After hearing from Steve Jobs about the incredible and nearly indestructible screen covering that amazing Retina Display, Vincent set forth to show customers “live” in the ATT Store how strong the screen was. To be fair on his demo unit, which is dropped on fairly clean industrial carpet, he purposely left a clear screen guard off the phone but kept a basic thin case on it. The screen guards help on several different angle drops and some small blunt object impacts, while not a guaranty, they do help! Anyone with a bunch of iPhone toting kids can confirm how well screen guards and cases work.
ok, back to the story:
Vincent dropped the phone over and over in the store from about head level for customers every day, today he dropped it and bounced it the wrong way and dropSKIP’d it into the sales counter corner. He sacrificed his personal iPhone4 today to sell many other iPhones, it sux that ATT won’t replace it for him, since it was “self inflicted” it isn’t covered under the not-so-amazing insurance plan – Geez…
Over the years we have broken a few iPhones, it’s kinda what we do here whether it’s on purpose or an accidental dropSKIP, not to worry, we have had great service from the guys at http://www.ubreakifix.com they offer a 90 day unconditional guaranty and have locations across the US, ship it in and it comes back in less then a week.
Important safety tip, there are lots of iPhone repair scammers out there, these guys are the real deal.
This particular repair sets you back $149 USD as they do the glass and LCD as one replacement. For an extra $50 they will convert it to a WHITE iPhone4 for ya… Apple should take note… -g
Vincent earned a much higher dropSKIP rating of 57/100 based on how many times he tossed his phone around and it was from no less then 6 feet vs. the semi consistent dropSKIP tested rating of 33/100 from our lab.
